Stop and Smell the Flowers - Kissing Negative Self Talk Good-Bye

By: Shari A. Miller

It can be so easy to get bogged down with all that's wrong in our lives.

There is not enough money for the bills, health issues, car issues, family issues and more.

When this is all we focus on we end up going now where fast.

Friends, it's time to stop.

It's time to kiss the negative self-talk good-bye.

The Lord created us with the ability to think of only one thing at a time. It is not possible for us to think of what's wrong with our lives, as well as our blessings at the same time.

So, here's the deal...

When those negative thoughts creep into your soul, ready to steal and destroy the joy that the Lord has placed in you, it's time to tell them, "NO!"

The moment you feel them crossing your mind, take them captive and tell them to get out. Cry out to the Lord and ask Him for help to fight the enemy, because ultimately that is who this battle is against.

The enemy is trying to wear away at your heart and convince you that you're alone, however, we know better than that.

Instead of allowing negative thoughts to win out, think of God's blessings instead. Take time to go outside and smell the flowers, get a change of focus and scenery. Think about all the wonderful things you have in your life, such as family and friends.

Ask the Lord to clean your heart from the destruction that the enemy has started and to renew a right spirit within you, so you can face your days in victory, instead of defeat.

This may seem hard to do at first, but with practice, it get's easier over time.

Give it up, let it go, the battles is the Lord's and not ours to own.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me." Psalm 51:10 (NLT)
