For Him!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us," - Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)

The race was about to start...the coach, and the group of young men, gathered together in prayer, the time ended with their voices yelling in unison, "Who are we running for? For Him!"

The gun shot rang out and with that they were off!

Running 3.1 miles, in cold, rainy, Autumn weather, takes perseverance, determination and hard work.

Just like the race of life.......

By no means is life always easy, it takes courage, focus and faith in Jesus Christ to get us through. To run the race well that the good Lord has set before us, it takes laying aside the sins that can so easily entangle us and focusing alone on our Savior. It takes laying aside every bit of self that cries out for fairness and it's own way and surrendering to the Lord and His way instead.

The end of the race brought its challenges....

There was a long steep hill that the runners had to go down, they needed sure footing and a watchful eye to make sure they did not fall. At the bottom of the hill was a crowd of parents cheering and encouraging their child on, calling out their names, letting them know they could do it, and telling them to finish strong

As I was screaming out my son's name, (using my football voice as he later described it :), I was once again reminded how much this was like our relationship with the Heavenly Father.

Sisters, He is watching us race, He is cheering us on....

Every mile we finish, every hill we climb, during the times we walk, during the times we fall, I promise you He is there. Don't let hardships and disappointments discourage you, don't let the ways of the world weigh you down.

When you think you can't go on, when every muscle in your body cries out no more, with every step you take, breath in breath out, as the words flow loudly from your lips, "For Him! For Him!"

You can do this sisters! You can run this race! Run it well! Run it for Him!

All for Him ~

  1. Being a runner, I so get how powerful a crowd cheering for you is -- how it motivates, lifts, and keeps you putting one foot in front of the other. But I forget that God is cheering for me. He's not standing on the sidelines trying to see how many people I've passed, but He's encouraging me to keep going on the path He designed, independent of how quickly I get there.

  2. Being a mom, I really loved this post. My sons used to play hockey, and I was not known as a quiet mom in the stands!! I remember asking them if they were able to hear me during the game. They said they could sometimes. I wondered how they could hear me amidst all the other voices. They said they were listening for me.

Hmmm. That's a good lesson for us running the race, too. God is always watching, always cheering us on. We just need to listen for Him.

    GOD BLESS!

  3. LOVE this! Love the analogy you use with cheering on our children in sports. My boys play baseball and my daughter plays volleyball. When I cheer them on I am always using my loud voice. God cheers for me this way. Love it!
