Hold My Hand!

Wednesday evening I unlocked the backdoor and my kids started sprinting to the car. We were on our way to Church. They get very excited to go to Jesus's house and as my son was about to run out in the parking lot I yelled WAIT!!! As a car sped into their spot next to ours. He was almost our Shayne pancake..sighs.

Another time we were headed into the Church for some event or activity and I freed him from his carseat and he escaped my grasp and almost plowed right into an oncoming car! I swear that kid is gonna be the death of me.

He's 2 and knows what he wants when he wants it so when I go to grab his hand so he doesn't end up a pancake he will pick up his feet so I'm dragging him (seriously) and SCREAM at the top of his lungs. Whew does he have good lungs.

As I was talking to my sweet sister the other day, I said something that didn't really register until later when I was quiet and God knew I would hear him. An image of my son popped in my head in one of his temper tantrums as I was dragging him down the street. He HATES when I hold him back, he HATES when I command his attention to dangers around him and when I hold his hand to keep him safe....

The statement I made was "sometimes I run out ahead of God without asking for help, with out holding his hand, without even stopping to look at him"

We were talking about respecting our husbands, the tone of my voice towards my kids, I'm a work in progress aren't we all...

Wow God ok I'm listening.

How often are we like our kids, darting ahead of God without even a second thought and when He does call us back to Him we pick up our feet and throw a temper tantrum thinking we know better. Oh man I really don't want to be like my two year old. God is gentle, so much more gentle than I am but in His gentleness He instructs us to hold His hand.

When we're about to say something disrespectful to our husbands..Hold My Hand!
When we're about to lose it to our kids and say something hurtful..Hold My Hand!
When we're offended at something a friend says...Hold My Hand!
When the past hurts and anger start flaring up again...Hold My Hand!

Just as you desire your kids to be safe and not run out into dangerous ground, so does God desire for YOU to be safe and not run out into dangerous ground. When you feel the sarcasm raising up against your husband pray. When you feel your temper getting out of control with your children, pray. The woman sets the tone for her home, what tone are you setting if you just run out ahead of God and do things "your" way.

Pray without ceasing, pray on all occasions and
hold God's hand so you don't get pancaked by your own pride.
