God Whispers Peace

By: Melanie Moore

I woke up in the middle of the night, my mind swirling with my many responsibilities in the upcoming days. Even though the sun had not yet risen, I mentally started on my "to do" list for the next day.

Rather than getting sleep, I was getting stressed!

Do you even feel like your stress level climbs even more quickly than your laundry pile?

As I worked around the house to accomplish everything I needed to get done, a song became stuck in my head. I haven't heard or thought about this song in years, but it was absolutely on repeat in my mind! The lyrics go:

"He speaks in a still, small voice we are told, A voice that dispels all fear; And when I'm in doubt, or troubled in soul, That still small voice I can hear.

Yes, He whispers to me, He whispers sweet peace to me, When I am cast down in spirit and soul, He whispers sweet peace to me."

Isn't that beautiful? Even when we are surrounded by stress and troubles, if we give our hearts time to pause, we can hear God's still, small voice.

God's voice never shouts in panic.

God's voice whispers peace.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

Today's Prayer

God, in the middle of our stress and the busyness of life, would you please remind us of your peace? Please whisper peace into our hearts, and give us the wisdom to stop and listen to that still, small voice. Help us to lean on you for our strength, and please quiet our hearts as we surrender our time and energy to you. Focus our hearts and minds on the things that matter to you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  1. A perfect prayer for today! Stress is a common thing in the world today. It's hard to get away from it. However, when we give our cares to Him, He is faithful to give us peace!
