Offering God Everyday Praise

By: Sarah Geringer

Is praise a part of your daily routine? I can’t say that it’s always a part of mine, but this passage reminds me to make praise a priority.
Why is praising God important? Praise keeps us in right relation to God. He is the Potter; we are His instruments. We were created to give Him praise. If nature cries out praise to Him, we need to praise Him too!

Praise keeps us focused on the positive. Life can be hard and discouraging. Intentional praise reorients our focus on God’s wonderful character, which never changes despite our circumstances. Praise uplifts our views.
Praise helps us hope for the future. Focusing on good things now helps us have faith that the future is good, because God is good. Making praise a part of our everyday routines will bless us greatly!

To praise God with my whole heart, I must remove distractions. Here’s how it works for me:
·         Sitting down at the kitchen table in the morning to read my Bible in total focus, and praising God along with psalmists.
·         Choosing to praise God instead of listening to the radio during times when I’m driving alone.
·         Listening to praise music on my evening walks and singing along.

Removing distractions during these times helps me focus on God’s goodness. What distractions do you need to remove in your time of intentional praise?
Today, I’m pressing pause to praise God for all the good things He’s done this year. Will you also take a moment to praise God for one good thing he's done in your life today, last week, in the past month, and since the beginning of the year?

Press pause to praise God for all the good things He's done this year in your life.

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings and God's peace to you,

  1. Sarah, yes I find when I pause and praise God I feel His love and the goodness He has and is doing! I like your suggestions especially the driving in the car one.

  2. I especially like your first point. Everything we have comes from God, and praising Him helps us remember that. But how like Him and kind of Him that praise has other benefits, too.

  3. One of my favorite ways to praise and worship is with the Psalms. To avoid distractions, I praise very early - or quite late. I realize I need that silence to really focus. And yes, it has been a great year so far! :) I will definitely praise more. Thanks, Sarah!

  5. This is so true, Sarah, "Intentional praise reorients our focus on God’s wonderful character, which never changes despite our circumstances. Praise uplifts our views."
