You Are Beautiful

By: Shari A. Miller

Her alarm goes off with the numbers 6:30 staring right in her face. "Oh no!" she thinks.

Same old, same old.

She hops in the shower and get dressed before her children wake up. She turns and looks in the mirror as she combs out the tangles in her hair and says, "Lord, I am no one special. Why I can't I be different. Why can't I be pretty like other women. It's no wonder my husband doesn't pay attention to me any more. Why, oh why, am I such a failure."

The tears fall from her cheeks, as she wished in her heart for something more, something different.

That's when she hears the voice, loud and clear, as if someone where in the room, standing next to her.

She turned around to look to see if her husband had walked into the room, with a quick glance she saw no one was there.

Then she heard it again, clear as day.

"My child, You are beautiful."

She immediately knew who it was. It was the voice of her Father, the voice she had heard so many times before. She started to say something but He stopped her instead.

He said, "No. You are far more beautiful than you could ever dream, far more valuable than the rarest of rubies. I have great and wondrous things in store for you. I want you to stop with your negative thinking, and start believing that you are more. You are beautiful, you are loved, and you are mine."

As she let the words sink in deep she felt her spirits soar as she drank in the words of her Lord.

She was ready to face the day, ready to believe, and ready to see what the Savior had in store for her.

Does this ring a bell sisters? Are you hoping for something different?

I want you to listen to that still small voice that's speaking to you.

Today is a fresh start and a new beginning. Let's not live today in the pits of despair, instead let's believe and live it for the Lord.
