Blessed are the peacemakers

by Debi Baker

"Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called the sons of God.
Matthew 5:9 NKJV

The context of this verse is not particularly directed toward law enforcement personnel, however, it is the job of law enforcement to keep peace or to protect and serve. I know that there are those few bad apples that make all law enforcement look bad but the majority of policemen/women are good and honorable.

Blessed are the peacemakers.

In light of the recent attacks on many of our police officers, I feel like we need to be praying for them in a powerful way. When a law enforcement officer signs up for the job, he or she knows that they could very well be signing their own death warrant. Just as the military man or woman is willing to lay their life down for our freedoms, a policeman, fireman or first responder promises the same thing upon taking that oath.

Unless they are doing something illegal, there is no reason for people to be afraid of law enforcement. Law enforcement officials are there to keep peace. Why are they suddenly being attacked and murdered? Because there is no respect for authority in this world we live in.

It's time for us to help change that. Let's begin to show respect to others. Let's help bring a positive feeling about regarding law enforcement! If we can't respect the ones that are supposed to protect us, how can we respect anyone!

Have a blessed day...and please pray for those in the law enforcement community! They are blessed by God for they are part of the peacekeeping of society.

  1. Great post! Thanks for sharing. That is a good idea to pray for law enforcement. I will start doing that.
