Twenty Five Ways to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus at Christmas

By: Shari A. Miller

This past Monday, on my personal blog, Shari A. Miller, Living to Leave a Legacy, a shared a post about, The Two Most Important Things at Christmas. One of the things I talked about was making sure that Christ was the true meaning of Christmas. This season, instead of thinking of self, let's step back and take a look at ways we can help others during this holiday season. Below, you will find a list of twenty five ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus at Christmas.

1. Make Christmas cookies and deliver them to shut-ins.
2. Shovel a neighbor's driveway.
3. Sing carols to the elderly at a nursing home.
4. Adopt a family at Christmas and buy presents for them.
5. Participate in Operation Christmas Child.
6. Make cookies and deliver them to the fire or police department.
7. Clean out your closet and deliver old coats you never wear to a shelter.
8. Be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.
9. Invite a less fortunate family over for dinner.
10. Write letters to soldiers who are stationed away from home at Christmas.
11. Run errands for an elderly neighbor.
12. Volunteer to decorate your church for Christmas.
13. Volunteer at a soup kitchen.
14. Buy coffee for a Salvation Army bell ringer.
15. Pay for a stranger's groceries.
16. Buy a toy for Toys for Tot's.
17. Volunteer to put on a Christmas party at a local shelter.
18. Buy gas cards and randomly hand them out to strangers in need.
19. Invite someone to your Christmas Eve service at church.
20. Babysit a friend's children, so they can go out for the evening.
21. Volunteer at a senior center.
22. Donate food to a food drive.
23. Go to a children's hospital and read stories to the children.
24. If someone can't drive, drive for them and help them get around in the snow.
25. Help carry groceries for the elderly.

"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men." Philippians 2:5-7 (ESV)
