Capturing Their Hearts

By: Shari A. Miller

And so it begins.....

Another summer passes, and another school year starts.

Many things come along with our children as they walk through that school door for the first time this year.

Things like the fear of what the new year will bring, the fear of seeing all their friends again, and for some who are Seniors, and will be ready to graduate in 9 months, the fear over upcoming decisions that need to be made and where the Lord will lead them.

Mothers, we have a job to do!

Whether we homeschool, send our children to a public school, or a private school.....

We need to be on our knees fervently praying, seeking God's will on how we can capture our children's hearts, and continue to lead them towards the Lord. Or for those who have children who are finding acceptance in the world's ways, we need to pray how we can capture their hearts and lead them back towards the Lord.

It is a different society compared to when we were young.  The world is telling our children that what's wrong is right, and what's right is wrong. Oh how my hearts aches at the things I see in today's world.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)

Moms the enemy is laughing at us, because he thinks he has won. However, we know there is a different story, when we are on our hands and knees prostrate before the Lord, a mighty work is being done. He hears us moms! Don't ever stop praying! God can do more that we could ever think possible.

"Remember, if you don't pray for your children's eternal future, they may not have the kind you want them to have." ~ Stormie Omartain

There is so much power in prayer! I want to challenge you this school year to daily pray for your children. Begin by going to your child's school, or be at home if you homeschool, walk around their school and pray for them in these specific areas.

1. Pray for a revival at their school. Pray that the Lord would work in the administrators, teachers, and students hearts in ways that we would never think or dream possible.
2. Pray for their safety and protection at school.
3. Pray that God would bring good solid Christian friends into their lives that would uplift and encourage your child.
4. Pray that  your child would uplift and encourage other students around him.
5. Pray for the teachers, that God would give them wisdom to know how to teach the students and that they would be positive roll models in the students lives.
6. Pray for your child that he would understand the material that's being taught and that he would be diligent in getting his work done.
7. Pray that the outside influences would be stopped at the door, and that they would not find a way into the school or your child's life.
8. Pray that your children would leave their fears behind at the foot of the cross, and they would walk forward in strength and confidence that God has all things under control.
9. Pray for your child's health that they would not be overcome by any sickness this school year. Pray that a shield of protection would be placed around them as they enter into the school.
10. Pray for your child's attitude during the school year. Pray that the enemy would have no access to your child and that they would take all problems or concerns to Jesus and they would not worry our fret about them.

Moms let's make this year different, let's make this year better, let's capture our children's hearts in prayer and lead them back to the Savior and away from the things of this world. We can play a part in our child's future, right in the here and now. Won't you join me?
