I have a friend who is a missionary, in fact she used to be part of the team here at Woman to Woman Ministries. Her name is Jenilee, and you can follow her story and learn how to pray for her family at, Our Goodwin Journey. Jenilee is one of the sweetest individuals you could ever meet. She is married to her husband Jeremy, and they have 3 beautiful daughters. Her and her family recently spent a year in Paris, France, learning French at a language school. Within the past few days her family has moved to Africa, to begin their 2 year journey of being the hands and feet of Jesus to the African people.
Many times I have felt called to pray for her and her family as they have packed up their lives and moved everything from the states to follow a call that God placed on their hearts. I've followed their journey in pictures as I've seen numerous bins and suitcases being packed as they moved forward and onward to the mission God gave them.
As they arrived in Africa I was drawn deeper into their story through the pictures they posted and the stories they told. I was especially taken in by one of Jenilee's Instagram photo's which was of a book she was reading called, "Walking with God on the Road You Never Wanted to Travel," by Mark Atteberry. Her caption underneath read, "Reading this gem of a book in this season. Not because I don't want to walk this road. But because it is a hard road I want to travel well."

This really spoke to my heart.....
"A hard road that I want to travel well." What if, we stopped trying to look for a way off our hard road and instead moved forward wanting to the best job we could for the sake of our Savior.
We all have journeys that we are traveling on, sometimes these journeys are pleasant and filled with wonderful experiences, other times.....not so much.
All of the expeditions we travel on, depend on something very important, our willingness to surrender self, for the sake of the bigger picture. If we can abandon all of who we are and what we think we need, for the sake of what God wants, we can watch a mighty work unfold for God's glory.
Are you willing friends? Willing to truly live out the call that God has placed on your lives? Just like the Goodwin family is doing, and just liked the disciples did in the Bible, let's take the next step of traveling our hard roads well.

When Jesus says, "Come follow me." Let's obey and obey well. What a difference we can make if we would be willing to abandon it all for the sake of God's call.

"A hard road that I want to travel well." - This spoke to my heart as well. I know that the blessings that come with completely depending on God as we obey and follow Him on a difficult path are beyond what we could ever imagine, but sometimes we are shortsighted and only focus on the immediate hardships that road may bring. I'm learning to surrender and trust little by little.
