American Goulash

Hello friends, I would like to share a recipe with you today that I found on Pinterest and like I often do, I like changing it to fit our tastes and especially if I don't have all the ingredients the original recipe calls for I will find something to substitute if it isn't something too exotic!

Mmm look at those big chunks of tomatoes! I never knew how much flavor those add to a dish until this summer and now I am thinking I will definitely have to 'can' some jars of just plain tomato chunks next summer once the garden is in full swing again!

On to the recipe:

American Goulash

Adapted from: Gonna Want Seconds

1 lb ground beef
1 small onion (chopped)
1 t garlic salt
1 1/2 c water
2 c pizza sauce
1 (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 1/2 T soy sauce
1 T dried oregano
1 1/2 t seasoned salt
1/4 t pepper
1 1/2 c elbow macaroni (uncooked)

Directions:

Fry the meat, onions and garlic salt in a large skillet until the meat is fully cooked.
Stir in the water, pizza sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, oregano, salt and pepper.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Add the pasta and turn to low heat and simmer until the pasta is tender. About 25 minutes.
Delicious!

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come, but we have this moment today.
