His Clay (Link Up)

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says theLord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!

Jeremiah 18:1-6

God is our Potter. He forms us to what He wants us to be with His own loving and capable hands. Just like a potter sometimes changes the way he wants his masterpiece to look, sometimes God changes our course in life. But just as the potter knows what the outcome will be and what purpose it will serve, God knows what our purpose is and what He is doing.

He is our capable and perfect Potter. You are His masterpiece.

  2. Whenever I don't understand why things are happening the way they are and I am experiencing trials, it is encouraging to remember that God has a plan and that through all things He is shaping and molding us into His image. I am trusting Him!

  4. Hi Jenifer,

Thanks so much for the opportunity to link up.

Your post was such an encouraging read. I often think about how I am being moulded, transformed into the image of Jesus, but for this to happen, we will go through times of pain, as the things that aren't good for us are rooted out by the Great Gardener. I am so thankful that He is the Potter and I am safe in His hands of unfailing love.

    God bless

  5. I wrote a poem about this very thing. Sometimes it's hard to be worked and re-worked by the Potter. Molding and shaping isn't always an easy process. But when we yield to His loving hands, we will find that He is creating us to look like Him.

    A masterpiece indeed.

    GOD BLESS!

  7. Dear Jennifer
My mother used to do pottery for man years and she enjoyed it so much. This makes me realize that it must give our Lord great pleasure to form something beautiful out of the lump of clay from our lives!

  8. Being in the potter's hands is a comforting and yet painful place to be. What ever it is that he is making will be beautiful....but the process isn't always. God help us endure the work of the master's hands has he remolds us into his image.
