Ham and Potatoes


Do you have those tried and true recipes that Grandma, Mom and all the great cooks in history made, that is delicious and you know its a favorite before you even try making it? 
Today I am sharing one of those recipes with you! My husbands Mom has made this numerous times and I always love the creamy texture and delicious taste...

Here's the recipe:

Ham and Potatoes

5 lb potatoes
1 1/2 pound ham
1 c sour cream
1/2 pound velveeta cheese
1 T salt
1 quart milk (or cream)
1 1/2 sticks butter
1/2 c flour (heaping)
1/8 c onion
Directions:
Cook Potatoes and cool, peel, and dice in small pieces (can be shredded if you prefer) Cut ham into small pieces.
Saute onion in butter; add flour and stir. Add milk and cook until thick.
Add salt, sour cream and cheese. Mix with ham and potatoes.
Bake at 200 for 3 - 4 hours 
This recipe will be approximately 5 quarts, and serves 20 people.

  1. I do not like ham but LOVE potato soup! I am going to try this but only put ham in part of it, since my family likes ham. :)
