OK

My husband and I had an argument the other day. 2 people, living under the same roof, both of which LOVE to be right...both of which will go to great lengths to prove their 'rightness'. Sometimes the arguments last days and then when one is finally proven wrong the other of us celebrates a little too much....just trying to be real with ya'll...

So when I read the next section on grace in The Resolution for Women I was much convicted...

A gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath...Prov 15:1

Our arguments last for days because we want to be right, we want the 'victory'. We want the satisfaction of knowing 'I was right and you were wrong!' but according to my book nothing is going to be right...until I learn how to step up and say OK.

When we give in during an argument we're not being a doormat...we're not settling we're actually acting like women of wisdom, bold, confident, courageous and gracious.

Those words finish the argument, once and for all. Not because demands were met, but because the other person wants restoration instead of discord...

I hate arguing with my husband, I want peace in my home, pride is an ugly thing isn't it ladies?

When we say Ok..we're giving up our pride. We're acknowledging the thing we're fighting so hard to win really has no eternal value. It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. We're acknowleging that in order to protect and perserve relationships, in order to invite peace back into our homes we will have to choose a soft, delicate answer instead of one that's sharp and explosive, harmful and wounding.

This kind of response can only be done with God's Spirit working in us, we realize that it's not about winning as much as it is about making our Daddy God proud of us, making Him smile down on us and receive His blessing of growth in our hearts.

Ok.

Those words have purpose, they have a deeper meaning than what you see in this moment of strife. Girls trust me, I need this post just as much as anyone...so will you take this challenge with me?

"A soothing tounge is a tree of life, but perversion in it crushes the spirit" Prov 15:4
