Word Filled Wednesday - Do Not Conform

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

As my daughter and I drove to school the other day we had a conversation about how much the world has changed in the past 35 years. I told her what it was like back in the "dark ages" when I was a child. I explained how we had no cell phones, no cable, and no internet. I told her how we used to play hide and seek, make mud pies, and ride our bikes till it got dark, you know the types of things that not many kids do today.

Our world is changing fast, and not necessarily for the better. Everywhere we turn we are faced with the onslaught of what the world tries to tell us is the new norm. The type of things they think we should be accepting of and open minded to, the type of things that make me stand in disbelief as to what is happening.

We have a tough job as parents, to diligently guard our children's hearts from the ways of the world.

God's Word tell's us to not conform to the patterns of the world, but to transform our minds, according to God's will.

  • In order to do this we as parents need to be in prayer and in the word daily, seeking God's will for our lives and the lives of our children.
  • We need to be a living example to our children, so they can see from us what type of things they should have their minds set on.
  • We also need to guard our children's minds from what they are seeing. We need to be careful of the television shows they watch, what music they listen to, and how much social media access they have.

We need to be bold, we need to be daring enough to make a difference. If we want to see a change in this world, it's up to you and me to be that change. Let's not conform to the downward spiral the world is on, instead, won't you join me sisters, in making a difference for the next generation?

Many Blessings~
