A Resolution to Care

As we move into a new month we also move into a new Resolution. I pray your eyes were opened with our last resolution on integrity, I pray you came through it changed. The next resolution is very near and dear to my heart, I pray it becomes a part of you as well.

"Why do You force me to look at injustice? Why do You tolerate wrongdoing?" Hab 1:3

There are some ugly things in this world. Things we'd rather look away from. Things we'd rather just ignore and go on our way in our own little world. Much like Habakkuk in his day, he cried up to the heavens "why do you force me to look, God?!"

While, yes we are children of God, we are also warriors. Put on this earth to care. We are God's ambassador's. We are meant to SERVE others. Non-believers, believers, those who are different from us from all walks of life. We are not here to be served but to serve. So why aren't we doing more? Why aren't we rising up and saying ENOUGH!

Look what God says in response to Habakkuk...

"Look! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days -you would not believe if you were told." vs 5

God says to look, turn your face towards the ugliness. He wants to do something new in YOU.

Serving can be ugly. You might do things for people who haven't showered in days. You might  meet someone who is living in sin you couldn't even imagine...but God wants you to look. To care. He works through His people, and He wants to use you.

I started a food pantry through my Church last year. In the past year I have met people that are homeless, that don't shower on a normal basis, who are so shut off to the outside world you can't get close even if you wanted to. This is ugly, it's not looked highly upon by the world. Even the Church. People expect service to be flashy, to be beautiful and noticed. Working in the food pantry is anything but flashy. I took food to a woman once that slept on the floor in a sleeping bag, her roof had fallen in but she had no where to go. Service is ugly, service is hard but God wants you to LOOK! He wants you to care.

There are homeless people living blocks away from our Church. People living in caves! God has given me such a passion for these people, I want to help, I want the Church to care, I want to move and help these people. I have so many God given ideas to help these people, God wants to use me, our Church in such a HUGE way...

"If God didn't show you, your heart would not be moved. If He simply told you what His plans were or how He was going to use you to solve them , you wouldn't be able to grasp the full depth and height of the problem or what the touch of His supernatural care, kindness and wisdom could accomplish through you."

"He has decided to show you, He wants you to SEE the chaos, the devastation, the damage..."

Ladies...we need to start caring about what is happening blocks away from us. We need not be suspicious of those different from us. Those who have not showered, those who have not eaten, those who do not believe as we believe...they are opportunities. God has put them in your path to show you what He wants you to do for Him.

So this is our next resolution. To care.

"I will persue justice, love mercy and extend compassion toward others."
