Whatever you do

"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God's glory." 1 Corinthians 10:31

I have a confession to make...I am a perfectionist. So much so that sometimes I feel condemnation if things aren't just so in my life. If a friend comes over and the house is a mess. If I'm singing with our Church worship team and someone is singing off key...if my kids act up while we're out in public Lord help us.

Somewhere in the last 2 years being saved got warped and twisted in to being perfect...suddenly realizing God took time out of His precious schedule to even get my attention meant I had to start doing everything right no matter the cost or He would change His mind about me...

Can you relate?

This whole month we've been talking about giving our best to God. That's what this resolution is about, giving our absolute best to God but does that mean perfectionism? No! Lord knows we're not perfect. No one is good, no one is above sin... So why does being saved turn into being perfect?

That scripture I gave it doesn't mean pick someone you look up to and immitate them. It doesn't mean beat yourself up when you make a mistake. It doesn't mean go on a mission trip, start a ministry, open a Church and oh when you have some spare time bring a neighborhood to God...no it means whatever YOU do.

Do you do dishes? Do it to God's glory.
Do you take your kids to school? Do it to God's glory
Do you talk to your spouse (I hope so *smiles) Do it to God's glory!
Do you work? Do you homeschool? Are you single? Do it all to God's glory!

Take your best, your going to school, staying home, being single, being married, parenting self all to God's glory. You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to wait until you get your life in order. You don't have to wait till everything is just right and clean in your homes to bring glory to God.

Thank Him today. Thank Him for the spot you're in right now. Thank Him for the struggles you're facing - they are being used for your good, they are being used to grow your faith. Thank Him for the good thing that happened today - it is also being used for your good.

Take a deep breath and don't try to be perfect today...and I'm taking that breath right along with you. Honor God with all YOU do today.
