Marriage Monday - Love Dare 34

[Love] does not rejoice in unrighteousness,
but rejoices with the truth.
1 Corinthians 13:6

From the moment you close your Bible in the morning, nearly everything else you encounter throughout the day will be luring you away from its truths.  Everything we face wants us to forget those moments with God.  I cannot tell you how many times I have had a beautiful and emotional quiet time only to just moments later be faced with yelling kids, barking dogs, and much more.

The world tells us, as women, that we need to be beautiful, according to worldly standards.  That we should be a size six {or smaller} with a large bra size.  That our hair should be just perfect and nails perfectly manicured.  The world tells us that spending time with God is impossible; who has the time?  That we need to be supermom and a trophy wife.  The "world" tells us all kinds of lies and it speaks so loudly that it can be hard to drown out the sound.

It is easy to believe the lies of the enemy and the world.  But when we know the Father, it all changes.  We know the truth.  We know that it is more important to be honest than to wear the latest fashion.  We know it is more important to forgiving that to go to the gym seven days a week.

You are the most influential person in your husband's life.  Whether he admits it to your or not, he truly cares about what you think and how you look at him.  Are you using your influence to lead him to honor God or to dishonor Him?  What makes you the most proud of your husband?  When he remembers to take out the trash or when he spends time in the Word?  When mows the lawn or when he forgives someone who has wronged him?

Often times here at W2W, we talk about appreciating our husband and telling them thank you for the little things.  But what about the "big" things.  By "big" I mean eternal.  When he prays with your son, do you say "Thank you honey. You are helping to shape our children's spiritual life"?  When he wakes up early to read his Bible, do you tell him thank you for being a spiritual leader in the home?  When he shows the love of Christ to the troublesome neighbor, do you tell him that you are proud of him?

Be happy for any success your spouse enjoys.  But save your heartiest congratulations for those times when he is honoring God with his worship and obedience.

Today's Dare:
Find a specific, recent example when your spouse demonstrated Christian character in a noticeable way.  Verbally commend him for this at some point today.

Homemaking is a lot of work.  It takes a lot of planning.  We have not only housework and caring for the family, but errands to take care of, appointments to attend, and taking the kids to and from activities.  My calendar fills up quickly most months.  Just recently I have gotten more into meal planning for my family and while it takes some serious planning, it is so much easier in the end.

Sue, at Homemaker's Friend, has a great help!  Her Homemaker's Planner!  This planner is not only beautiful to look at, it has monthly and weekly planning, a place to keep tasks and projects, a place to put your shopping list that is perforated to tear out and take with you and beautiful encouragement throughout.  I am super excited to begin to use my planner in just two months and I will definitely continue to purchase this Homemaker's Planner in years to come.  Sue is sweet to work with and when you order, you receive your items quickly.

One blessed lady will receive a 2013 Homemaker's Planner.  To enter, please complete each task below.
