"Trash the Past"

We're starting a new Resolution this month, if you have missed the other's please click on the link that says "Resolution for Women Bible Study" and you will find previous posts.

This month we're talking about living authentically. We're resolving infront of God to value ourselves as the women God created us to be and to celebrate those around us.

This chapter reminded me a lot of a Women's retreat thing I went to last year called "trash the past" we were supposed to write down all those labels we had aquired over the years and then "trash them" meaning rip them up, throw them away whatever needed to be done to get rid of them and step into the place God had for us.

Think back over the years, chances are someone gave you a label that maybe you've hidden in your heart that wasn't such a nice label but you ended up believing it and along the road it stuck and now you believe it...a few labels I've aquired are

Unloved
Invisible
Childish
Selfish
Lazy

Sometimes Satan uses the people that are closest to us, that are supposed to love us and support us the most to do the most damage to our self esteem, I recieved all of those as a child and they have stuck with me even into adult hood but God doesn't see us like that. Do you know that when you accept Jesus as your Savior God sees only His Son's blood washed over you and instead

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." 1 Peter 2:9-10

Those are God's words not mine, did you see that?

We are chosen
We are royalty
We are Holy
We are God's own
We are people of light

Those labels that you might have tacked on to your spirit through the years, get rid of them. Write them down, physically throw them out..do what ever you have to to start living the life God wants for you, living as the woman God sees you, NOT the person the world has said you are.

God's oppinion of me is the only one that matters, and I choose to believe His truths.

"The life you're renovating has far too much God given potential for you to plant its roots in something so menial. Dig deep and lean in to the truth-the truth of who you are and what He's created you to offer to the world-and then orbit your life around that steadfast knowledge. This isn't backwards, unbalanced and absurd. It's steady, sure, trustworthy and powerful." ~ The Resolution for Women

  4. I needed to hear this Mandy. So many times I continue to put lables of the past on, and seem to have a difficult time taking them off. Thank you for this reminder that in God's eyes He sees me differently.

    Blessings~
