Family Time

Good Day ladies, don't forget today is the last day to enter to win the give-away we have going on right now. Click here for details and your chance to win.
The contest closes Tuesday with Lisa announcing the winner.

We live in such a busy world. People are coming and going and sometimes, tragically, families don't spend any time together. Whether your children are 2 or 18 they need your time. They need you to take a few minutes out of your day and ask them about their lives. They may completley deny it but they do love talking to you about themselves, they love when you ask.

I love using dinner time for this purpose. Everyone is eating so we are able to get our kids attention and even though they are young we are able to talk to them and ask them about their day. Usually it's a story about a fantasy my daughter has in her head but most every time it's a story she's just dying to tell my husband or I.

I have friends that are so busy in their week that they designate a whole day just for their family, no cell phones no computer, no tv they actually go out and have fun.

Do you and your family spend time together? Do you take the time to talk to each other? I'm learning more and more that even if you don't have an active ministry in your Church, your family is your ministry. They are your "desciples". They are God's gifts to you and you should take the time to nurture those relationships, grow them and show them God through your actions.

With two preschoolers my husband and I get so caught up in our to-do list that sometimes we forget just to have fun, my kids love to have fun. They love our company.

I want to encourage you to take time out this weekend from your busy schedule to just be with your family. Turn off the computer, turn off the phone, turn off the tv and just have fun. God will bless the time you spend with each other.

  3. My hubby and I were just talking about this last night. It's just the two of us in our house but we were talking about the need for the church family to spend "family time" together. It's really the same principle. Great post. Thanks for sharing!

  5. We just returned from a short "Staycation" at the Red Sea. In these days when every family feels that they are under pressure because of the economy, it is good to take a few days away. You return feeling refreshed, uplifted and rarin' to go!
