The Changing of the Seasons | A Reminder of God's Faithfulness

 By: Paula Short

I've always been drawn to the changing of the seasons. There is something about the way the earth shifts and turns, bringing with it new sights, sounds, and smells, that fills me with a sense of wonder and awe.

The changing of the seasons is a reminder of God's creative power and His faithfulness to His creation. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the author writes about the cyclical nature of life, noting that "there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."

This is so comforting It reminds me that even though things may change, God is always the same. He is the God of the past, present, and future. He is the God of seasons.

I think it’s important to be intentional about seeing the seasons change. This can be done in several ways, such as:

— Spending time with loved ones and creating memories that will last a lifetime

— Sitting on your porch and watching your yard evolve. Plants, animals, birds, trees etc.

— Take an autumn drive to look at the brilliant changing foliage and landscape

When we take the time to observe the seasons change, we are reminded of God's love for us and His goodness. We are also reminded that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. We are part of the cycle of life, and we are all connected to one another.

How Ecclesiastes 3 Draws Me Closer to God

The book of Ecclesiastes is often seen as a pessimistic book, but I find it hopeful. The author explores the meaning of life and ultimately concludes that there is no one answer that fits everyone. However, he also finds comfort in the fact that God is in control and that He has a plan for each of us.

One of the things that I love about Ecclesiastes 3 is the way that it talks about the changing of the seasons. The author writes that "there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." This reminds me that life is cyclical and that there is a time for everything. There is a time to be born, a time to grow, a time to love, a time to lose, a time to laugh, and a time to cry.

It reminds me that even though things may change, God is always the same. He is the God of the past, present, and future. He is the God of seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3 has helped me to see the beauty in the changing of the seasons and knowing that God’s is in control and that He has a plan for my life.

Let’s Reflect

I encourage you to be intentional about observing the seasons change. It is a beautiful way to connect with God and with nature. It is also a way to experience the fullness of life.
