I'll turn to God when I...
can overcome my addiction.
can get a grasp on my anger.
am ready to walk away from living in sin.
stop feeling so lonely.
Over the years I've heard all of the above statements and more. People who know they need God, yet feel as though they need to clean up their life before they can go to Him. Maybe you, too, have felt like you need to get your life in order before you can commit to God.
Friend, hear me. The Gospel is for you and it is for right now.
The Gospel is for the addict.
The Gospel is for the angry.
The Gospel is for the sinner.
The Gospel is for the lonely.
The Gospel is for everyone.
The Gospel -the Good News of Jesus who came to save us- is for everyone. All you have to do is believe in Him. You don't have to clean up your life first, He accepts us dirty and broken.
God loves us so much that He takes us just as we are.
While He loves us so much that He takes us just as we are, He also loves us too much to let us stay there. We can go to God dirty, but out of His great love for us, He brings conviction into our lives to help us clean up the things that don't glorify Him. He will give us a longing for things that bring honor to Him.
Whatever is holding you back from fully, wholeheartedly committing to God, remember, the Gospel is for you and for right now. Don't try to get your life in order first. First, submit to God and let Him walk beside you and lead you to putting your life in order.
If you have never said the sinner's prayer and you are ready to dedicate your life to God, or maybe you feel the need to rededicate your life, please join me in praying this prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you, dirty and broken. I admit my sin and my need for a Savior. I ask You to come into my heart. Wash me clean from all unrighteousness. Help me to live for You in all that I do, say, and think. Walk with me and guide me in Your ways. In Jesus name, Amen
If you said that prayer, welcome to the family of God! I encourage you to get into a Bible believing church and find discipleship to help you grow in the Lord. Begin to pray and ask God to reveal to you things you need to lay at His feet and to give you a heart for Him. What a loving father, who chases us down, brings us home, cleans us up and restores all the broken places in us! The Best Father!
