Where Is Your Prayer Team?

"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Matthew 18:20 NIV

Where is your prayer team?
If you don't have a prayer team, you need one. I needed my prayer team yesterday, and they helped me so much.
My main prayer team is on Facebook. When I post a prayer request, my team from around the world gets activated to pray.
These are friends I've developed over the years. Real-life, local friends from school and church.
My team includes online friends I've yet to meet, but trust them as much as my real-life friends.
I've met members of my prayer team in blogging groups, in online groups, at live conferences, through podcast interviews, and on webinars. It's taken years to build this team, and I'm so grateful for each team member.
You don't need a bunch of people on your prayer team for your prayers to be effective. Our focus verse today proves this:
"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Matthew 18:20 NIV
One or two other people praying with you is really all you need to see amazing answers to prayer. Of course, praying on your own is essential for your Christian faith. But you multiply the power of prayer when people on your prayer team join you in prayer.

You multiply the power of prayer when people on your prayer team join you in prayer.

Here are a few guidelines about having a prayer team:
  • Choose wise, mature Christians for your team who will faithfully pray and not gossip about you.
  • If you share online, make your prayers vague enough to preserve privacy, but specific enough to be effective. For example, I asked my prayer team to pray that I would have wisdom and clarity, and God abundantly answered that prayer.
  • Consider using a Facebook group. This is a more private space for sharing. I have a treasured Facebook group of praying friends, and believe me, we have moved some mountains together!
  • Pray for your prayer team. Yesterday, while going through my Facebook notifications, I prayed blessings by name on each person who left a comment. People who pray for you need your prayers too!
I pray that God will help you find one or two other people to join your prayer team. Whether it is online or in person, I pray your prayer team will be an enormous blessing and comfort to you.

Blessings and God's peace to you,

  4. Wonderful post! When I first was afflicted with hearing loss, I picked and asked five friends to pray with me. Then daily, my husband and I prayed along. It sustained me through that trying season. I love being on your prayer team Sarah and thank you for praying for me❤

  5. I don't have a prayer team per se, but I do have some friends who share prayer requests and we pray for each other most every day. For specific requests I also have friends in a group chat on our phones and we share whenever we have requests. And it's a great idea to pray for those who are praying for you. Thanks for these thoughts, Sarah! Blessings to you!
