If you are following along with the W2W Bible reading plan, we are currently in Genesis reading about Abram. In chapter 12, God tells Abram to leave his land and his family and go to a new, unknown land. This wasn't a situation where Abram researched his new land, he didn't pull images and data from the internet, he couldn't even go visit before hand to see how he liked it, he was to just blindly go. He had to simply trust and obey.In chapter 13 when Abram and his family reach their new land, Abram learns that the land simply cannot survive his own family and herds as well as Lot's family and herds. Abram didn't want fighting between himself and his nephew, nor did he want fighting with his herdsmen and Lot's herdsmen. To keep peace, he knew they had to separate. He told Lot to pick an area to the left or right and he would go the opposite. It couldn't have been easy to separate. He had to simply trust and obey.
Like Abram, we don't always have all of the details. Sometimes God asks us to do things without sharing the how or why. Sometimes God even asks us to do things that make absolutely zero sense in our mind or even on paper. Like Abram, we simply have to trust and obey.
Abram knew he could trust God because he knew that had plans for his life and would never leave him or let him down. He had no reason to not trust his Creator. Abram knew he had to obey because he knew that obedience was required of him, brought him closer to God, and even brought blessings. He also knew that disobedience brought discontent and punishment.
The old song says, "Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey." The best way to find happiness in Jesus is to trust Him fully and obey Him completely.
Whatever your situation is, know that you can fully trust in God. He has a plan for you and that plan will never bring you harm. Whatever you face, completely obey Him. The Word says obedience is better than sacrifice.

We think it's hard to obey now, but how much harder it would have been with as little information as Abram had to go on. That highlights his faith even more. May we trust in Him and obey as he did.
