10 Devotionals for 2021

By: Jenifer Metzger

I love a good devotional! Sitting down with a devotional feels like I am sitting down with a sister in Christ as we talk about Jesus together. It isn't an in-depth, intense study, it's like a brief, yet meaningful encounter. It is so special to me!

Today I want to share with you ten of my favorite daily devotionals. Each of these devotionals is written by women of God, share Scripture, a brief devotion, and a prayer or thought provoking questions. Each of these devotionals will encourage and inspire you. (Just click each title!)

  1. Take Heart: 100 Devotions to See God When Life's Not Okay
  2. Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God is Holding You Close
  3. God Hears Her: 365 Devotions for Women
  4. God Sees Her: 365 Devotions for Women
  5. Awaken: 90 Days With the God Who Speaks
  6. 100 Days of Joy and Strength
  7. Women of Courage: A 40 Day Devotional
  8. One Minute with God - A Year Long Daily Devo
  9. A Moment to Breathe - 365 Devotions
  10. 100 Days of Believing Bigger
As much as I love a good devotional, nothing, absolutely nothing, takes the place of reading your Bible and praying. A devotional is like the appetizer to your meal. It is going to settle in and make you feel good, bring some satisfaction, yet it is going to leave you wanting more. A good devotional will make you want more of Jesus.

Devotionals, studies, and books are great. So wonderful! I love devotionals, I love doing Bible studies with sisters in Christ, and I love reading books by women of God like Lysa Terkeurst and Priscilla Shire. But we should never, ever let these tools take the place of the Bible and prayer.

If you are looking for a devotional in 2021, this list of ten are my favorites! They are wonderful tools to use in addition to God's Word.

Have you ever read any of the devotionals listed? Which ones did you love? What are other devotionals you love?

It's time for Share A Link Wednesday! Each Wednesday we invite you to leave a link to your latest blog post in the comments. We still desire to connect women of God with one another and encourage each other in Christ. So grab a cup of coffee or glass of sweet tea, sit back and visit a few blogs. Be encouraged and share your own stories.

  1. I agree--devotionals shouldn't make up the whole of our time with God's Word, but they're a good starting place or tidbit. I haven't read any of the ones you listed. My favorite is Daily Light on the Daily Path. I first saw it mentioned in missionary biographies from years ago. It's just Scripture, no commentary, usually on one topic for the day or following a train of thought. Another favorite is Spectacle of Glory by Joni Eareckson Tada. And Morning and Evening by Spurgeon.

My post this week talks about how we all want life to get back to normal, but what's normal? https://barbaraleeharper.com/2021/01/04/whats-normal-anyway/
