Is hope easy for you, or is it hard? In my Bible study group, we've
been discussing this question.
For some, hope isn't too difficult. For others, especially those of us who are struggling
right now, hope can be hard to come by.
What is your hope level today? On a scale of 1 being
low, 10 being high, where does it rank?
Today's reading from Psalm 25:16-22 tells us what
David was asking when he sought help from God. He asked that his integrity and honesty would protect
him.
I don't think that David was putting hope into his own
merits. In his own record of good deeds.
I think he was saying this:
"God, you and I have a close relationship. I need you now.
Don't forget me; don't forget the times I've sought you out before.
The times I
drew close to you.
The times I showed you my love and commitment.
I'm drawing
close to you now, hoping you'll protect me and save me."
Do you also draw close to God when you need hope? Does your relationship with God feel like a protective
cover in times of trouble?
What action can you take today to place more hope in
the God you love?
I'm putting hope in him by claiming his promises when I read them in the Bible. Any time I see a promise in my daily reading, I make it into a prayer.

Sarah, I am so very grateful for the hope I can draw from God's Word. As we keep our eyes on the Lord (Psalm 25:15) we can avoid the traps of hopelessness which the enemy sets for us. May we remember, "The Lord is good and does what is right" (verse 8) and "The Lord is a friend to those who fear him" (verse 14). Our hope is found in Him. Grateful to be encouraged by His Word and yours this morning :)
