Finding Peace

By: Jenifer Metzger

Peace.

Sometimes peace feels elusive. Concern over a loved one not living for God, financial struggles, health issues, broken relationships, busyness, a child driving us to the brink, division in our country, crime, there truly is so much that can rob us of peace.

We yearn for peace of heart and mind. We think things will eventually calm down and be okay and then, maybe then, we will finally find peace.

You will keep the mind that is dependent on You
in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.
Isaiah 26:3

Trusting in God doesn't mean our situation will magically become peaceful. It doesn't mean our problems will magically be solved. It does mean He will give us peace. When we are fixed on Him and not what is going on around us, He brings peace to our heart and mind. He gives us strength and fights the battles around us. When we are trusting in God, we are living in faith, not fear. That is where peace comes from. His perfect peace.

If you are in need of peace, it is time to turn to God. It is time to get into the Word. It is time to trust Him. It is time to depend on Him.

It's time for Share A Link Wednesday! Each Wednesday we invite you to leave a link to your latest blog post in the comments. We still desire to connect women of God with one another and encourage each other in Christ. So grab a cup of coffee or glass of sweet tea, sit back and visit a few blogs. Be encouraged and share your own stories.

  1. Yes, peace doesn't always "feel" like we want it to. I'm thankful there is a peace that undergirds all our situations, which is Jesus himself. When I go deeper, I find he's always there. That is peace.

I write today about seeing our personality types as gifts, not boxes, to prepare for an Enneagram series.

  2. Jenifer, I loved this post as it dovetailed with my post today on prayer. God will keep us in peace even when circumstances would seem to dictate otherwise. We need to remember He alone is our peace. Grateful for the reminder today!

  3. It's so easy to lack peace when we look at the circumstances in our world and the concerns on our heart. But when we turn to Him, rest on Him, we find peace--He can handle everything.

I wrote this week about Biblical self-talk--talking to ourselves about what the Bible says, much like your post here: https://barbarah.wordpress.com/2020/01/27/biblical-self-talk/.
