God Uses You

By: Jenifer Metzger

Have you ever wondered if God could use someone like you? You know, a "regular woman." A woman who stays home and raises a family. A woman who spends forty hours a week in the job force. A woman who has an empty nest. A woman who is single. A woman who is married. A woman who has been saved her entire life. A woman who just found Jesus this year. A real, regular woman. Could God possibly use you?

Friend, let me assure you: God uses you every single day.

When you are home caring for little ones, God is using you. As you teach them to pray and read Bible stories, He is using you. As you change diapers and pick up toys, God is using you to care for and raise up His children.

When you are raising teens, God is using you. He gives you teachable moments to lead these young adults onto His path. God uses you to shape and mold these ones He's trusted in your care.

When you go to work, God is using you. God gives you moments to demonstrate grace to co-workers, He gives you moments to demonstrate honesty to a supervisor, and He gives you chances to demonstrate a holy life to those around you.

When you are at the grocery store, God is using you. You may be the only smile someone sees that day, showing the love of Jesus. Maybe He will put you in just the right spot at just the right time to assist a struggling mom or elderly man.

When you fix a meal for someone, God is using you. You are literally being the hands and feet of Jesus as you help and care for others. You are offering hope and relief.

When you post a Scripture verse to social media, God is using you. Those words from the Bible may be the only Bible someone hears. It may be just the right words at just the right time to save someone's life.

So you see beautiful woman, your every day "regular" life is used by God every single day. Your "hot mess" moments can show God to the world around you. When you live for Him, let your light shine for Him, serve in His name, He is using you in a mighty way.

It's time for Share A Link Wednesday! Each Wednesday we invite you to leave a link to your latest blog post in the comments. We still desire to connect women of God with one another and encourage each other in Christ. So grab a cup of coffee or glass of sweet tea, sit back and visit a few blogs. Be encouraged and share your own stories.

  1. Sometimes, we are too busy to stop and reflect. When we do, we can see all the ways God uses us.

  2. Thanks for this reminder, Jenifer. It's so important. God has given each of us a sphere of influence unlike anyone else's.

My main post this week contrasts literary and biblical redemption: https://barbarah.wordpress.com/2019/07/22/literary-vs-biblical-redemption/. But I also reviewed Elisabeth Elliot's excellent book, Suffering Is Never for Nothing: https://barbarah.wordpress.com/2019/07/24/book-review-suffering-is-never-for-nothing/.

  4. Jennifer, I love all your examples of the ordinary, everyday things we do as "unto the Lord." So encouraging! Here is my latest blog post..."the display of His Splendor"...
