Be Persistent

By:

Emily Miller

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel as though prayer is a one way line of communication where you always get the busy signal at the other end.

That imagery makes you want to stop praying altogether sometimes. It can for me!

However, the Bible tells us that we need to be persistent in our prayer life.

Keep going to God and petitioning Him on your behalf! Wear out that line of communication down to the wire, and still keep petitioning Him further after that.

The more specific your prayers are, the more effective it becomes as a communication tool. Don’t just offer a “token prayer” that is a few sentences long before you go to bed at night. Make your requests detailed based on whatever situation you find yourself in or whatever needs you may have.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
-Ephesians 6:18

This will help you to feel less anxiety through out the day as you constantly remind yourself that you have already taken your situation to God in prayer.

By no means does this indicate that you should stop praying for your needs. In fact, you should keep praying about them as the little bubble of anxiety starts to prick it’s way back to the forefront of your mind.

So let us today approach the throne of grace with confidence that our God is indeed all powerful, and will work great miracles for us!

Blessings,

Emily

  1. It helps me when I remember that prayer is only half of a conversation with God, and that He speaks to us in His Word. I try to be faithful in praying, "Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things out fo your Law" when I open the words of Scripture.

  2. I agree with Michele. God is so often doing things behind the scenes. For years I used to write verses out at the end of letters to my unsaved father. He never responded to them or mentioned them - I figured he was just skipping over them. But when he came to the Lord late in his life, he mentioned them: God had been using them even though I had no sign of it for all that time.
