Hope in the End Times

By: Shari A. Miller

This world, quite frankly, is becoming a very scary place. With each passion day, more trials and turmoil are brought to our attention with the nightly news.

With all these trials facing our country right now, it can be very easy to get fearful and discouraged as to what is happening in the present, and what will happen in the future.

These events were predicted by Jesus himself to His disciples in the scriptures. Because they were predicted, we as Christians will have no reason to fear or worry about what the end times will hold.

Matther 24:4-7; 10-14; 42-44

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 The nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places

10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

John 16:33
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Any of the things that Jesus was describing in Matthew sound familiar? I bet they do. Yet, as the verse in John says, God has overcome the world, so we need to take heart and watch for the day of his coming while not being led astray.

All that it takes is a daily commitment by us believers to follow God so that we will be ready when he does come.

Hurry back soon Jesus!

  2. I'm so grateful, too, that Jesus has already overcome the world and we have victory, even though it doesn't always feel that way. Thanks, Shari, for the encouragement to always follow God no matter what.
