Peace in Worship

By:
Emily Miller

A few things in life that I enjoy more than anything are hot summer days, baseball, a good book, and music.

In fact, one of my favorite things to do to unwind is to plug in my music and tune out the world and the long day for a bit.

Think about it. You probably have music on your phone for every type of mood you find yourself in day in and day out.

Yet, with all the countless genres of music you may have on your devices, can you name the last time you sat down, turned on some worship music, and truly praised His name?

God wants us to enjoy the things that we do, yet how many times have we sought out gratification from things of this world before seeking out God?

King David himself went through his own ups and downs with his relationship with God. Yet, he ran to the Lord to find his peace. He worshiped the Lord in the streets, singing and dancing his praises to God.

And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment.
2 Samual 6:14

We all could take a page out of David's book. Instead of seeking things to distract us from the emotional ups and downs in life, we ought to be seeking God.

So I challenge you today to make it a point to sit and worship Him. Turn on some praise music as you do chores throughout the house, or find a quiet place where you can sit and listen to God.

Blessings,

Emily
