Stop Disqualifying Him

By: Jenifer Metzger
If I want a Godly husband, I'd stop disqualifying him from the leadership role in my life and encourage him to walk in it. ~Jen Weaver, A Wife's Secret to Happiness
I have been parked on this quote for a couple of weeks now. I can't get it out of my mind. I can't get it out of my heart. I find myself wondering if this is me. Am I disqualifying my husband from his leadership role in my life? Am I robbing him of what God called him to do? How can I do better? How can I encourage him to walk in this role God designed him for?

Women continually say that we want our husbands to lead us as God intended. We say we want our man to be the head of the household. Yet, when they try to lead, we stifle them. We don't think they are doing it good enough or doing it right or we just think we can do better. We tell them to lead then cut them off at the knees. Ladies, it's time to start acting like we want them to lead. It's time to truly let them lead!

How can we let our husband be the leader in our home?

Pray for him.

Ask God to help your husband step into that role designed specifically for him. Ask God to help him lead by the Word. Ask God to help your husband be a man of God by reading the Word, praying and seeking God first.

Pray for you.

Ask God to help you to fall under the leadership role God places your husband in. Ask God to help you to see how to be Biblically submissive without being a doormat. Ask God to help you to be the wife He has designed and called you to be.

Let him lead.

When you are facing a decision or situation, ask your husband his opinion and ask him to pray with you and for you. Listen to his advice. Even if you don't necessarily agree with him, listen to him. If you feel his decision is wrong, take it to God. Ask God to lead your husband in the right direction but also ask God to change your heart if you are the one who is wrong.

These are just 3 important ways to begin letting your husband fulfill the leadership role in your home. What are other ways you can let your husband be a leader? Share your experiences in the comments.
