Inconvenience or Blessing?

by Debi Baker

"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest
of blessing if we don’t give up."
Galatians 6:9 NLT

This is something on which I feel I need to work. See, because we are born in to a world of sin, it's not necessarily in our nature to 'do good.' Humans are, by nature, selfish. I want what I want when I want it! We don't like to be inconvenienced and doing what is good will likely inconvenience us!

While I'm not advocating that we should 'd0 good' just to reap the harvest of blessings promised in this verse, I am saying that it's ok to be inconvenienced in order to 'do good.' The best way to be ok with it...change your mindset! Instead of looking at 'doing good' as an inconvenience, look at is as a wonderful opportunity to share Christ with someone else!

Yes...helping others and doing good is a perfect way to amp up your witness for Jesus! At the beginning of this post, I said I feel like I need to work on this. Well, I do! I am very 'me' minded! Notice, I didn't say selfish! I'm really not selfish, but I do enjoy MY time...MY time with MY family...doing what I like to do! It's high time I stop being so me oriented and start thinking about others. I want to have the eyes of Jesus; the hands of Jesus; the feet of Jesus. I want to see others the way He does! When we start seeing others with HIS eyes it'll be easy to not tire of doing good. When we start helping others the way He would, we'll get at least little excited!

I refuse to stay any longer in this world of MINE! There are many other worlds where I can be helpful! And should God decide to bless me in my doing, well that's just an added bonus!

Have a wonderful day "doing good."
