Dedicated In My Work

By: Emily Miller

Hello and welcome back ladies! I sure do hope your Christmas was wonderful!

Now, we are officially almost a week into this new year. A new year for me is always a time of fresh starts, where I have the chance to begin again and focus on areas I would like to improve in.

Some people make resolutions for the new year. I have never liked the word resolution. It always seems like it is so final to me, like if you break them you are done and you do not get a second chance.

Instead of setting resolutions, I usually do a combination of making goals for the year that I can work towards, along with picking out a word of the year that sort of encompasses the basic value that I want to achieve through all the goals I listed. The word I chose for 2017 was dedicate.

In accordance with Webster's dictionary, dedicate is defined as to "devote (time, effort, or oneself) to a particular task or purpose."

This word and it's definition are of particular importance to me as it comes to my walk with Christ in this new year. Ever since high school, having a daily quiet time with Jesus has always been an issue I have struggled with in particular. This year though, I want to be one in Christ and be in accordance with His will for my life, especially as I am graduating in five months.

In order for me to be able to do this, it is going to require dedication to stick with the task of having a regular, daily quiet time, until it becomes a regular habit. It will not be easy. I will fall and fail at times. As I work towards this goal, with the reality that even though I may fail at times, His mercies are renewed each and every morning and it's through His grace that I can start again.

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

-Lamentations 3:22-23

Life is not perfect. It is going to have it's ups and downs, and maybe even throw you through a loop on occasion. However, if we abide in Christ by having a daily quiet time with Him, we can be content no matter what our circumstances may be.

So it's with this in mind, that I move forward with great excitement and expectation, of how Lord with work in my life, as I focus on being more dedicated in my time with Him.

How has your new year been thus far ladies? What is a word or a goal you have to focus on for 2017? Feel free to comment below!

Blessings-

Emily
