Morning Comes Too Early

By: Jenifer Metzger

Morning comes so quickly. Many of you will agree. We've had busy weeks, long weeks, hard weeks, and it's only the halfway mark. We are physically tired, emotionally tired, maybe even spiritually tired. Then the alarm goes off signaling the time to begin all over again. We pull the covers over our head and wish for nothing more than to rip the cord from the wall and throw the alarm clock across the room in hopes of a few more hours of sleep. I get it friend. I am right there with you.

How about instead of cursing the morning, we praise God for it? The Bible tells us in Psalm that the Lord gave us this day. This new day is in fact His gift to us. Instead of grumbling that we must now climb from our warm sheets and begin another day, let's thank God for His gift.

Will you join me?

Father, I am so tired right now and wish the morning hadn't come so quickly. Yet I praise Your name. Thank You for this gift of a new day. Thank you for all of Your great blessings. I even thank You that I am tired this morning because I know that it means we have lived a full life this week. Please help me to keep my mind and heart focused on You today. Align my heart to Yours. Please give me the energy and strength I need to complete all You set before me today. I give You all of the praise and glory. Amen.

  1. I love mornings! Maybe it's the Anne Shirley in me who sees the day stretching out before me "with no mistakes in it yet."
Or maybe I'm remembering those new mercies that come every morning from our merciful God.
    Thanks for being here!

  2. I love mornings, but I am most definitly not a morning person. It's an odd combination, but it's just me.

  3. I am an early morning person hence the title of my blog 'New Every Morning'. My battle is with being disciplined to go to bed at a reasonable hour so I do wake feeling refreshed and ready for the day the Lord has made!
