The mind of Christ in confusing times...

In the middle of this chaotic and messy political season there are two questions that have been running through my mind.  "God, what are you up to?" and "What do you want me to do?"

I have some of my own thoughts of what God may be up to and why, but no direct answers from Him.  However, I am confident of this, nothing that happens in this world catches God by surprise.  God is still reigning and ruling on the throne of heaven and keeping watch over the nations, including ours.  "He rules by His might forever, His eyes observe and keep watch over the nations; let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!" Psalm 66:7

As far as what does He want me to do, scripture is pretty clear about that. "If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14  I must pray and seek God and turn from any wickedness on my part.  I must also pray and ask Him to give me the thoughts and wisdom of Christ as I do my part and vote.  I/we need the mind of Christ, more than the mind of the media, more than the mind of our friends or coworkers, more than the mind of what we are bombarded with on social media.  Perhaps if all of us spent at least as much time seeking the mind of Christ through praying, reading the Bible and spending time in His presence as we do listening to these other things,  we'd all find it easier to know what the thoughts, feelings and purposes of God's heart are in the matter.  I am confident that God cares about our nation and actually does have an opinion on its direction.  It's our job to find out what that is.

  1. My thoughts (and conclusions) run along a similar vein. God, have mercy. Christ have mercy.

  2. Even though this election keeps taking us by surprise.....God is not the least bit surprised. No matter who wins we must come together with prayer for our nation.
    God bless,
