Praying Scripture Over Your Husband

By: Jenifer Metzger

We know that praying for our husband and our marriage is something that should be a priority for us. Yet we don't always know the words to pray. I am here to tell you that it is not as hard as we make it. The truth is, all we need to do is pray Scripture over our husband.

How to pray Scripture over your husband. #prayer #prayingwife #marriage

When we pray Scripture, we are praying the very words of God.

How it must thrill Him when we pray His own words! Think of your children. You talk and teach and talk and teach. You think the words are falling on deaf ears. Then one day you hear your child repeat something you've been trying to get through to him. It's almost as if you can hear the angels sing the hallelujah chorus! I would imagine God feels the same about us.

Here are just a few ways to pray Scripture over your husband:

  • Father, help my husband to be completely humble and gentle; to be patient, bearing with one another in love. {Ephesians 4:2}
  • God, help my husband to trust in You with all of his heart. Help him to not lean on his own understanding, but to submit to Your way. {Proverbs 3:5-6}
  • Lord, help my husband's integrity to be upright and to guide him in all he does as he is faithful. {Proverbs 11:3}
  • Father, help my husband to be united with You as if in one spirit. {1 Corinthians 6:17}
  • God, help my husband to guard his heart and everything that flows from it. {Proverbs 4:23}

Read Scripture adding your husband's name and pray it over him. Give God's very words right back to Him.

Have you ever prayed Scripture over your husband? Share a verse that you have used or will begin to use to pray over him.

  1. Praying the scripture is one of the most powerful things I've learned to do! It keeps me from prayers that are based on my own understanding.
