Chosen

by Robin McKay

There is purpose for you...and for me.  There is Divine reason behind our existence.  Not only is there a plan for our lives—but destiny!

Before His breath breathed substance, before His words shaped stars—
The Lord chose you to be His most treasured possession.

“For it pleased God in His kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born!  What undeserved mercy!”  Galatians 1:15

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.  Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”  John 15:16

Do you walk securely in that calling?

Security is the direct opposite of many of my own struggles—doubt, fear, and anxiety.  To be secure is to not be troubled or apprehensive, but instead—strong and stable, sure and certain, confident and undisturbed.

When we are not secure in God’s call over us, we will be insecure and compare ourselves and our lives with others.

As I asked Him this morning about my own insecurities, His reply was simple—“You do not believe!”  And He was right!

My fears stem from unbelief.  I do not believe He cares for me enough to take care of me.  I fear that He will fail me or that the path, the season, the difficulty will be harder than I want.  You know what—it will be hard—it will always be hard down here!  It’s hard for everyone!  But...it will also be victorious and joy-filled if I trust Him to take care of me.

The next thing I heard from Him made little sense at first...

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:16

We are to let our light shine...
What we know—we are to believe!
What we trust—we are to declare!
What we speak (or write)—we are to do!

I may not know or understand all truth, but what I know is good, what I believe is right, and the tools and resources that I have are enough to mine the depths of His riches.

I just have to live it!
Live what I profess!
Refute unbelief by living belief!

The choice is mine.  I either live with joy steeped in hope or fear steeped in unbelief.  We choose one or the other—consciously or by default.

God has empowered us to live in righteousness.  He has empowered us by His Holy Spirit.  Daily He washes us in grace, favor, and love—having all we need to live victoriously.  He chose us to do so.  It’s all ours.  Will we choose to walk in it, to live in it?

Walk in faith, not by sight! (2 Cor. 5:7)
“See” that He does care and that you are held secure!

He chose you—what will you choose?
