Remember Your Why

By: Jenifer Metzger

Right this moment, close your eyes, take a deep breath and think of your why.

Why did you marry your husband? Why were you attracted to him in the beginning? Why did you give him that first look? Why did you look again?

Mentally tick off all the answers. Write them down even.

Your why is important.

Remember your why. #marriage

When conflict arises, when your husband leaves his shoes out, when he forgets to run the errand you asked him to run, when he fails to put a transaction in the checkbook, when he hurts your feelings, remember your why.

When you intentionally think about the reasons you loved him in the first place, you set your heart in the right spot. Slowly the anger, hurt and aggravation melt away as you think of his good qualities.

Sometimes we need to go back to that point and remember our why.

  1. Yes, Jenifer. If we are always thinking about the things that go wrong in marriage, we don't give love a chance to grow. We get stuck in negative thoughts and our behavior starts to follow our thoughts. When we consciously think of the good things and, like you said, keep reminding ourselves why we love our spouse, our anger and disappointment fades away. Love this post.
