Homemade Italian Dressing

How many of you actually know what all goes into all the processed foods you are buying? I really am not that educated about it all and studying into it isn't really my thing, but I do understand that alot of it is really bad for us and so I keep trying to find ways to make more of my own spices, dressings and especially cooking as many meals at home as I can without getting burned out :)

We are also following the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle quite a bit recently, so I wanted to come up with a healthier version of the Italian Dressing that doesn't have alot of hidden sugars and unhealthy ingredients.

Thus the recipe:

Homemade Italian Dressing

adapted from: Sunny Side Up

3/4 c olive oil
1/3 c red wine vinegar
1/2 t parsley
1/2 t oregano
1/2 t onion flakes
1/2 t basil
1/2 t ground mustard
2 t xylitol*
1/2 t garlic salt
1/4 t salt
1/8 t pepper
1/2 t chives (optional)

Whisk all ingredients together and let sit for at least an hour to let all the flavors blend together. You will want to shake it well before each use as it tends to separate a little. I love to use this mixture to marinate chicken breasts for a few days before grilling them. It makes them really tender and delicious!
* If your not following Trim Healthy Mama you can use sugar instead of Xylitol.
