Taking time to be thankful...

On this last Thursday before Thanksgiving, I want to give thanks to God for so much!  As I sit and look back over my life, I can see so many times when God had His hand on me and I didn't even know it!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  Some people, Christians mostly, don't understand sometimes.  Now, I love Christmas and Easter.  Those days represent God's Greatest Gift of all time, Jesus Christ!  But Thanksgiving is a time when we are reminded to be thankful.  I think that so many of us get caught up in 'living' life that we sometimes forget to be thankful!  I wish that we would always remember to thank God for His many blessings, but, let's be honest...we are human and we forget!

I try to be thankful everyday.  God has given me so much more than what I deserve.  The least I can do is thank Him for it.  We live in a world that says, 'gimme, gimme, gimme.'  Everywhere we turn, someone has their hand out.  Not only that, but many people just 'expect' someone else to 'give' to them.  I don't want God to look at me and see those attitudes.  I want Him to know that I am thankful and appreciative of all the gifts with which He has blessed me.  I don't want God to think I 'expect' Him to give me anything or to take care of me.  He doesn't have to.  He does so because He loves me with an everlasting love!

We need to thank Him every morning we wake up.  If we have pain, thank Him for the pain.  At least we can FEEL the pain.  No matter how bad we think we have it, look around, there is always someone that is in worse shape than we are!  We can be thankful for a roof over our head, food on our table, heat in our home.  The list goes on and on and on.

So, as we get closer to that special day...just 7 days away...take some time each day and make a note of 5 things each day for which you are particularly thankful.  That's a total of 35 things...surely there are 35 things you can thank God for!  Five things per day for seven days.

I pray that you have a blessed week and a wonderful Thanksgiving!
