Be Still and Know that I am God

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, it was my birthday. I woke up to homemade doughnuts, homemade presents and daisies. I was able to spend the day with my husband, daughter and son. I couldn't of asked for anything better.

Later in the morning, we decided to go downtown to the local park and get a snow cone. While I was standing in the shade, people watching, and enjoying my treat, my attention was caught by a little girl who was not more than two years old.

She was playing in the fountain pictured above. She was having the time of her life until...

Her parents picked her up and told her it was time to go home. That sweet little girl turned into a spunky little thing who was not happy at all. She reared her head back, kicked and screamed, and let the whole park know she was not happy with this decision.

As I watched the scene play out before me God spoke to me.....

He said, "How many times do my children act the same way? How many times do my chosen ones get upset with me because I tell them, it's time to move on, it's time to change course and go another way?"

A paused and thought.....oh how we must look to Him.

God told me it was time for some self-reflection.

How many times have I kicked and screamed because things were not going my way? How many times have I stomped my foot and said, "Oh, I don't think so God. Look here, this is what we need to be doing!"

How many times have I tried to do it on my own accord when I was unhappy with the answers I was getting from God?

God's word commands us to...

"Be still and know that I am God." ~ Psalm 46:10

Friends, God reminded me how I need to stop striving, and let Him be God. I need to surrender to Him and trust Him with the outcomes.

What are you struggling with today? Are you stamping your foot and demanding your own way?

Give it up. Let it go. Let it rest with God.

Today we are so excited to have our W2W Word Filled Wednesday Link Up. We desire to connect women of God with one another and encourage each other in Christ. 1. A great post. I wish I could say I have never been guilty of this but I have been. We miss out on a lot when we don't listen to God. Thanks for the reminder.

    Blessing to you, Shari.

  3. Oh yes and amen Shari! I know I have been guilty of this on more than one occasion. But it is time to just be still and let Him be God. One of my favorite verses, by the way.

  4. Oh goodness. Yes. I've seen this happen so many times. Unfortunately, I've been the little girl too many times. What a lesson. Thank you. (I think. LoL.)

  5. Shari- My two year old does this EVERY time we leave the park! Thank you for this beautiful reminder. It helps me to remember to have compassion on her, because the Lord has compassion on me when I kick and scream... Thank you again.

  6. I used that same verse in my WFW post this week! Now if I could just consistently, truly live in it! He's shown me over and over how beautifully He works when I do. Thanks for sharing this.
