Word Filled Wednesday - Peace

*Repost from January 23, 213

Today at Woman to Woman Ministries we will be starting a brand new topic called, "Word Filled Wednesday". It will be a time where we can delve into God's word and grow closer to Him as we study the Bible together. I look forward to meeting with you each week!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  ~Philippians 4:6-7

This portion of scripture is one of my favorite passages in the Bible. It is one that I have been leaning heavily on this past week. We all go through trials of one kind or another, we all have a different story to tell, each one filled with sorrows and triumphs alike. How we get through them depends on one thing.....our willingness to give it all up to the Lord and leave it in His hands.

The second part, is the hardest part for me.....leaving it in His hands. In my sinful nature I become, anxious, impatient, and want to see results now! When I don't get my way, my thoughts start to race, my breathing becomes labored, and my fears run wild as I think of all the what ifs. This type of anxious behavior gets me no where, it only makes things so much worse.

In the scripture above, it tells us not to be anxious. It tells us that we need to take each and every situation to God in prayer. (Giving it up to Him and leaving it there.) It also states that we are to offer thanksgiving while we are praying to God. I heard one of my friends say this week, that when she didn't know what else to say in her prayers, she felt like all she had left was to offer God her praises. When we begin to focus on the good in our life, giving thanksgiving for all God has given us, and take our eyes off our problems, that's when things start to change.

We start to feel His peace when we've allowed Christ to take our painful situations, and have given Him thanks for our blessing as well. Sometimes, this act of surrendering needs to happen day by day, hour by hour, or moment by moment. But when it's done, there is so much peace to be found in His presence as you're resting at the center of His will.

What are you struggling with today friends? What are you holding on to so tight that you're trying to fix on your own? Give it up, give it over to the Father, surrender your all to Him.

Many Blessings~
