Marriage Monday - Power of a Praying Wife - Week 10

We are on week 10 of the Power of a Praying Wife series.  If you have missed any of this series or feel as though you need to go back and pray the prayers again, please click the banner above.

We are faced with choices every single moment of every single day.  Before we rise from bed in the morning, we already have choices.  With each step we have choices.  Choices with what to eat, what to wear, what to say, what to do, what to watch on tv, what to give to the church, where to serve in our community, how to speak to our spouse/kids, the list is endless.

Some choices are easy, others not so much.

Some choices have no lasting affect, others have eternal affect.

Some choices we can make on our own, others we need to seek wise counsel.

Most choices we make affect someone else.  Most choices our husband makes affects us.

So much of our lives is affected by decisions our husband makes.  We are wise to pray that they are good ones.  Knowing that his choices affect us, why on earth would we not pray for his decision making!?

There are times when we need to seek wise counsel from a godly friend or even a pastor. We need to pray that God would guide our husband in his choices and that he would lead them to 'wise counsel' when needed.  A wise man seeks counsel.

A wise man will hear and increase learning,
and a man of understand will attain wise counsel.
Proverbs 1:5

Satan is waiting for us to mess up and make the wrong choice.  He wants us to mess up.  As praying wives, let's cover our husband in prayer in this area.

This week's prayer:

Lord, fill my husband with the fear of the Lord and give him wisdom for every decision he makes.  May he reverence You and Your ways and seek to know Your truth.  Give him discernment to make decisions based on Your revelation.  Help him to make godly choices and keep him from doing anything foolish.  Take foolishness out of his heart and enable him to quickly recognize error and avoid it. Open his eyes to clearly see consequences of any anticipated behavior.

I pray that he will listen to godly counselors and not be a man who is unteachable. Give him strength to reject the counsel of the ungodly and hear Your counsel above all others.  I declare that although "there are many plans in a man's heart  nevertheless the Lord's counsel-that will stand" {Proverbs 19:21}.  Instruct him even as he is sleeping {Psalm 16:7}, and in the morning, I pray he will do what's right rather than follow the leading of his own flesh.  I know the wisdom of this world is foolishness with You, Lord {1 Corinthians 3:19}.  May he not buy into it, but keep his eyes on You and have ears to hear Your voice.

Amen
