Marriage Monday - Gift Idea For Your Guy

Mondays here at Woman to Woman are dedicated to marriage, thus called Marriage Monday.  For our sisters who are not married, please don't leave us on Mondays!  Most of what we talk about can be applied to your other relationships.  For example when we talk about dates, it could be dates with your children or nieces and nephews.  You can apply other principles to relationships with parents or neighbors.  You can also pray about our discussions for your future marriage.  So please join us each Monday for whether you are married or single.

We are in the gift giving season and whether your husband is hard to buy for or not, I found a great gift idea!  While browsing Pinterest this wonderful idea was there staring me in the face and I had to share this with you.

A Year of Dates

This gift can be done many ways, but start with envelopes and mark them for the month.  I definitely encourage you to go on a date with you hubby once  a month, but if you cannot do once a month, do every other month.  Then inside the envelope, write down the plan for the night.  For example you can put:

Friday, January 13, 2012 6-10pm
Chinese restaurant
Bowling

Then along with the date plan, figure out how much this evening will cost you and put that much money in the envelope.  If possible you could purchase gift cards for what you are doing that evening so that it is officially already paid for and you don't have cash sitting around.  If you have kids, work out for a babysitter and put the sitters name and number in the envelope.  Just be sure to reminder her a few weeks ahead of time.

Think of things your husband likes.  If you know of a movie coming out in February that he really wants to see, you could buy a gift card to the theater and plan a movie night.  If he is a baseball fan, buy baseball tickets for a game in the spring months.

Now ladies, I do understand that dating is expensive.  If you are not in the position to pay for the dates in advance, you can still do the Year of Dates.  Pay for the first date so that you are ready to start the year off.  Then each week save a few dollars and put into the next envelope.  Your dates do not have to be expensive either!  When my husband and I have a date night it is typically Chinese take out ($10) at home with a movie.  So a few of my envelopes could have a $10 gift card for Chinese and a $1 gift card for a redbox movie.  Maybe one date night could be $8 for ice cream and a walk in the park.  Be creative.

A year of dates is a great way to tell your guy that you love him and love spending time with him.  Whether you are a newlywed or have celebrated your 50th anniversary, we need to date our husbands.

So tell me ladies, what date plans will you make?

Sweet Blessings~

  5. Great idea! My favorite date is a fondue dinner. It takes a long time to eat so we have lots of time to talk and dream together about the future.
