A Simple "Thank You"

Good Morning!  What a glorious day that God has given us...no, it's not sunshine and warm breezes today, but it is a glorious day nonetheless...because God gave it to us!

Today, on this Thankful Thursday, I want to encourage you to say "Thank You" to those people that have touched your life.  There is a song from the early '90's that is so beautiful and touching.  The song is called Thank You.  I will never forget when I first say the song performed at our church so many years ago.  The song says so much.  It makes me think of several specific people in my life that have led me to this point in my life and in my walk with God.  I could never in a million years thank these people enough for their giving.  I think of a certain Sunday School teacher I had...Mrs. McDowell...she was a very good teacher and our class loved her.  I think of the youth pastor...he had us call him by his name rather than Pastor.  Waggoner was amazing.  He was fun and serious all at the same time.  Then I think of my dear friends, Richie & Linda.  I worked with Linda and we became very close.  It was April 23, 1981 when we had gone to the church where Linda & Richie went.  Jim & I were not saved at the time but we were pretty involved in the church activities thanks to Linda & Richie.  We thought we were just going to play volleyball for a while.  Well, we did play for about an hour, then everyone went inside the church.  Jim & I thought that we were just going to get a drink and cool down a bit and then go back out an play some more.  Wrong.  The next thing we knew we were sitting in a 'service' where Richie was preaching a sermon on having faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed.  Before the night was over, both Jim & I gave our hearts to the Lord.  We have never looked back and have never regretted our decision.  Fast forward 30 years and here I am, a credentialed minister and a children's pastor.  I have been involved in the ministry now the entire time since I was saved.  This song, Thank You, is my heart...for Mrs. McDowell, for Waggoner, for Linda & Richie and for all the others that have touched my life.  I could never say "Thank You" enough to express my love and gratitude.

Thank You

I dreamed I went to heaven
And you were there with me
We walked upon the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea
We heard these angels singing
Then someone called your name
You turned and saw this young man
And he was smiling as he came
And he said friend you may not know me now
And then he said, but wait
You used to teach my Sunday School
When I was only eight
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start
And one day when you said that prayer
I asked Jesus in my heart

CHORUS
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave

Then another man stood before you
And said remember the time
A missionary came to your church
And his pictures made you cry
You didn't have much money
But you gave it anyway
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that's why I'm here today

CHORUS (repeat)

One by one they came
Far as your eyes could see
Each life somehow touched
By your generosity
Little things that you had done
Sacrifices you made
They were unnoticed on the earth
In heaven now proclaimed

And I know that up in heaven
You're not supposed to cry
But I am almost sure
There were tears in your eyes
As Jesus took your hand
And you stood before the Lord
He said, my child look around you
For great is your reward

CHORUS (repeat)

I am so glad you gave.

Have a blessed and thankful day,

  1. Isn't it awesome how just because someone prayed for us it has touched our lives? Someone cared enough to pray for us. God is so great, wonderful, awesome, loving, and forgiving enough to have someone working in us. I love the song, someday I would love to hear YOU sing it. Yes, we need to thank those who cared enough to pray for us. Mrs. McDowell is still the loving and caring person she was back then. Love you, thanks, and blessings to you, Sis.

  2. We can all look back and see people who have had such an influence on our lives. I pray that I am being that influence in someone else's life.

  4. Yep! Each day is a gift from God, and we should show our thanks (weather really has little to do with it when you have the joy of the Lord in your heart).
Thanks so much for visiting my blog this morning. I need to get over here more often :( Take care and God Bless!
