Appointed to Worship

Another 4,000 will work as gatekeepers, and 4,000 will praise the LORD with the musical instruments I have made.  1Chronicles 23:5

David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers to sing joyful songs, accompanied by musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.  1 Chronicles 15:15

King David knew the importance of worship.  He understood that worshiping moves hearts from a self-focus to a God-focus, and that God is most definitely worthy of our praise.  Praise was so important in the worship of God that David appointed men to serve as worshipers in the temple.

This just really struck a chord with me.  I believe that we too have been appointed to worship.  God delights in our praises.  Worship puts our spirits in direct contact with God; we are dancing heart to heart with Him.  Reminds me of the lyrics of one of my favorite songs:
Draw us near to Your heart, Oh God
Let us rest our heads on Your chest
Place our hands in Yours, Oh Lord
Hold us face to face.
Embrace this place.

We are all called to be many things - mother, wife, teacher, leader, servant, helpmate - the list goes on and on.  But let us not forget our more important calling to be worshipers of the Almighty God.

You have been appointed to worship; let's worship Him today!

  2. A song came on my iPod this morning that reminded me of the same thing. "All I can do is fall on my knees and worship Him" If I accomplish this one thing today...I've accomplished the most important thing. thanks.

  3. As Mandy said, I love to worship God because it makes me feel so close to Him. That intimacy of laying my head on Him and rest in His embrace. I love it!
