As kids we are taught the Golden Rule, which, by the way, is also a Bible verse.
Just as you want others to do for
you, do the same for them.
Luke 6:31 CSB
Our parents teach us this rule. Our teachers teach us this rule. We recite it over and over as we learn that we need to treat others the way we want to be treated. Then we, in turn, teach it to our children.
Yet, we don't apply it to our marriage.
The golden rule should apply to all people and all relationships, especially marriage.
If you want your husband to respect you more, respect him first.
If you want your husband to kiss you more, kiss him first.
If you want your husband to say 'I love you' more, say it to him first.
If you want your husband to date you more, plan the date first.
If you want your husband to slow dance in the kitchen, invite him first.
Whatever it is you are waiting on your husband to do or whatever it is you want him to be better at, you do it first. Treat him the way you want to be treated.
It is that simple my friends!
Discussion:
1. Think about one thing you desire your husband to do that you could do first.
2. Often times our loved ones get the worst of us. Do you feel like you fail to apply the Golden Rule to your marriage?
