Lord Bless You And Keep You

By: Paula Short

One of the most well-known and beloved blessings in the Bible is found in Numbers 6:24-26— and it’s one of my favorites and a go to when I need peace and comfort and just because.

"The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord cause His face to shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His face to you, And give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26— NASB

The blessing can be broken down into three parts:

  1. The Lord bless you and keep you. This is a prayer for God's favor and protection. He wants to bless us with everything we need to live a good life, and He wants to keep us safe from harm.

  1. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. This is a prayer for God's presence and favor. When God shines his face on us, it means that He is pleased with us and that He is with us. His grace is undeserved kindness, and it is a gift that He gives us freely.

  1. The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. This is a prayer for God's peace. God's peace is not the same as the absence of trouble. It is a deep inner peace that comes from knowing that God is in control and that He is working everything out for our good.

This blessing is a source of great encouragement for us. It reminds us that God loves us and cares for us deeply. He wants to bless us and keep us safe. He wants to be with us and shine his face on us. And He wants to give us his peace.

Here are a few ways that you can apply the blessing in Numbers 6:24-26 to your life:

  • Pray the blessing over yourself each day. This is a great way to start your day off right and to remind yourself of God's love and care for you.

  • Pray the blessing over your family and friends. This is a beautiful way to express your love and concern for them.

  • Use the blessing as a declaration of faith. When you are going through a difficult time, remind yourself that God is with you and that He is working everything out for your good.

  • Share the blessing with others. This is a great way to spread God's love and to encourage others.

Takeaway

The blessing in Numbers 6:24-26 is a gift from God. It is a reminder of His love, care, and protection for us. We can receive this blessing every day and allow it to encourage us and give us hope.

Here is a challenge for you today: Pray this blessing over yourself and your loved ones. Ask God to bless you and keep you, to make His face shine on you and be gracious to you, and to turn His face toward you and give you peace.

As you pray this blessing, receive it in faith. Believe that God is with you and that He loves you. Let His blessing fill you with joy and hope.
