Delays Are as Much a Part of God's Plan as Answered Prayers

 By: Paula Short

"Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear." Isaiah 65:24 — CSB

Life is unpredictable, and often things don't go as planned. We all have dreams, goals, and aspirations that we wish to achieve, but sometimes, delays occur, and we find ourselves waiting for answers to our prayers. During such times, it's easy to become frustrated, anxious, and even disillusioned. However, it's essential to understand that delays are as much a part of God's plan as answered prayers.

It's human nature to want things to happen quickly and on our schedule. However, when we don't get what we want as soon as we want it, we often tend to question God's plan and purpose for our lives. But the truth is, God's timing is perfect, and He knows what's best for us. He sees the big picture, and sometimes, what we perceive as delays areopportunities for growth, learning, and preparation.

"But as for me, Lord, my prayer to you is for a time of favor. In your abundant, faithful love, God, answer me with your sure salvation." Psalm 69:13 — CSB

In the Bible, we see several examples of people who experienced delays but ultimately fulfilled their purpose. Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers, spent years in prison, and yet ended up becoming the second most powerful man in Egypt. Abraham waited for years for a son, and Isaac was born when he was old and beyond the age of childbearing. Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness before leading the Israelites out of Egypt.

These stories remind us that God's plans aren't always easy, but they're always good. We may not understand the delays we face, but we can trust that they are part of a bigger plan that God has for us. In fact, delays can be blessings in disguise, as they give us time to reflect, reassess our priorities, and grow in our faith.

"Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart." Colossians 4:2 — NLT

Let's Reflect

So, the next time you find yourself waiting for an answer to your prayers, remember that delays aren't denials. Instead, trust in God's timing, and have faith that He is working everything for your good. As the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
